What Is Biologically Specific Strength and Conditioning?

An Individually tailored program that is based specifically on your inherent human biology. There are no broad applications in this program. It is formed out of a series of assessments and questionnaires that breakdown the individual needs from mobility to strength training to energy system development, all with the goal of creating the most individualized strength and conditioning program possible.

What Is Biologically Specific Strength and Conditioning So Important?

Strength and conditioning programs take broad stroke approaches to optimizing human
performance, making assumptions about “functional” movement for the human body and
applying needs analysis for athletes based in incomplete information. These broad stroke
approaches can develop physical accommodations or “cheating” for the sake of gaining
strength or speed, without addressing individual needs and capacities.

General Strength and Conditioning .vs. Biologically Specific

General Strength and Conditioning: Focused on movements, loads, and velocities and assumes the function of the athlete based on outdated research and incomplete assessments. Biologically Specific: Tailored to the individual needs and history of the athlete considering detailed training history, injury history, needs of sport, current active and passive ranges of motion, local muscular endurance, and bioenergetics all to determine exact needs of the individual.

What Do You Mean by Biologically Specific?

Human biology is determined by a complex set of ecological systems determined by the inputs of our histories and our environment that dictates output into our lives. These ecological systems work in harmony with each other, and optimization of each system should not be at the expense of any other. Musculoskeletal system, nervous system, endocrine system and circulatory system are all influenced by our training, and we should be training both within the confines of our current biology and to safely challenge it.
